A bit about me
I’m Dr. Joshua Bock (feel free to call me Josh), a Licensed Psychologist (PSY.6711) and graduate of Loyola University of Maryland’s Clinical Psychology PsyD. program. I have been involved as a mental health provider for nearly 10 years in a variety of capacities. From running summer camps focused on social-emotional development for Neurodivergent/diverse youths and young adults, to working in college counseling centers and specialized group practice. I am a current member of the American Psychological Association (APA), World Psychological Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).
Born in Southern California, I have spent time training in California, Maryland and Colorado and have been able to benefit from a wide range of clinical and life experiences. While I am willing to see most folx, I specialize in working with folx who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community, those who identify as Neurodivergent/diverse as well as folx struggling with anxiety and stress related disorders (including OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic disorder, and Agoraphobia). In addition, I am also trained to work with with: depression, trauma, identity development, Gender Affirming Surgery (GAS), Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) evaluation and WPATH letter writing, mood disorders, personality disorders, relational issues, and significant life transitions. I also hold strong values related to multicultural diversity and the importance of understanding how one’s intersectional identity impacts one’s experiences.
My therapeutic philosophy is that in our work, there will be two experts among us. I, the expert in psychology, and you, the expert in yourself, your life and your experiences. In the therapy space, I see us as equals; walking side by side along your life’s path. I believe it is through the combination of our collective expertise that we will be able to help you move along your path to the place you would like to be. I practice this philosophy through a myriad of theoretical orientations that I see as tools on my tool-belt which allow me to be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of each individual client. For those interested, I combine the teachings of ACT, IPT, CBT, ERP, Humanistic and Rogerian theoretical orientations.
